E-Publishing > Methods & Tools
It is perfectly possible to simply publish a document (on floppy diskette,
CD-ROM, or on-line) in your own standard documentation format (for
example as a Microsoft Word or FrameMaker file). However, it
is more common to use one of
a number of standard e-publishing technologies which
exist, such as:
 |
Adobe® PDF |
|
Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) is virtually the standard format for
electronic document distribution. PDF files are compact and preserve
all of the attributes of the original source document - including interactivity,
format and colours - regardless of the application used to create the document,
or the platform on which a reader views the document.
Using the appropriate drivers and the Adobe Acrobat® software, PDF files
are simple to produce and configure, and can be viewed by anyone with the
free-issue Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
Ipsitech has considerable experience in the production and use of PDF files.

Other Methods |
|
There are many other information/e-publishing technologies in use. These
include the various instances of SGML (Standard Generalised Markup Language),
such as XML (Extensible Markup Language) and HTML (Hyper Text Markup
Language).
Adobe FrameMaker® provides for automatic production of HTML or XML files
directly from a source document: click on the Adobe logo at right for
more information.
Corel Ventura also offers automatic production of HTML files or, using
the Corel Barista software, of converting documents into the Java language.

Whilst Adobe PDF is the most commonly used method, one of the other methods
may be more suitable for your purposes. If you have any queries as
to the best method to use, please don't hesitate to contact us: use the Contact
